A fire broke out in the engine room of the Sub Panamax containership EM Oinousses while the ship was sailing from Maputo to Mombasa on January 20, 2020.

Autonomous Ship Project Bankrolled by EU
The autonomous-ship project being developed by the Norwegian maritime cluster has received around EUR 20.1 million (USD 22 million), one of the largest grants ever given to Norwegian players, from Horizon 2020, an EU research program.

Wallenius SOL Picks MAN Cryo Fuel Gas Supply Systems for New RoRos
Swedish shipping line Wallenius SOL has selected MAN Energy Solutions LNG fuel-gas supply systems for its two new icebreaking roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) vessels.
On January 22, MAN said that its marine LNG fuel-gas-system manufacturer MAN Cryo signed the contract with Wallenius SOL, the company established by Wallenius Lines and SOL in April 2019 to transport forestry products and other goods in a network covering the Gulf of Bothnia, the Baltic Sea and the North Sea.Posted On:23-Jan-2020

Atlas Ocean Voyages Expands Fleet with Four More Ships
US-based cruise liner Atlas Ocean Voyages is adding four more ships to its fleet.
The Luxe-Adventure cruise brand s fleet will have a total of five ships by the end of 2023, with the first ship, World Navigator, launching in mid-2021.

Chinese Ambitions For Indian Ocean Ports
China and Myanmar have signed 33 agreements strengthening economic ties between the two countries including a port project that will give Beijing a crucial pathway to the Indian Ocean.

Cargo shipping via Latvian ports down 5.7 pct in 2019
In 2019, cargo shipping via Latvian ports slowed 5.7 percent year on year to 62.4 million tons, the Baltic country s Transport Ministry informed Monday.

Konecranes Automated RTGs to three European container terminals
Konecranes has signed contracts with Yilport for the delivery of Automated RTG systems to three of Yilport s European container terminals, two in Portugal and one in Sweden. Automated RTG operation is coming of age in Europe, driven by Konecranes. The order was booked in December 2019.

Drewry: Container Port Throughput Index Down by 2%
