Scorpio Agrees Scrubber Deals for Tanker, Bulker Fleets
Scorpio Bulkers and Scorpio Tankers, units of Scorpio Shipping Group, have signed letters of intent (LOIs) for the purchase and installation of scrubbers on the companies vessels.
The LOIs were inked with suppliers, engineering firms, and ship repair facilities and are subject the execution of definitive documentation, according to the two companies.

Cargo ship rams into Mumbai jetty
The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust on Monday launched a probe to know how a cargo ship rammed into a jetty on Saturday afternoon, an official said.
The incident occurred at the port's Fourth Container Terminal-BMCTPL, which is managed by the Port of Singapore Authority.
The vessel's protection and indemnity insurers have analysed the extent of damage to both the ship and the jetty.
The 336-metre long vessel, owned by CMA-CGM, Mumbai, and carrying a dead weight of 119,324 tonnes, arrived here from Karachi and was expected to sail to its next port of call at Mundra Port, Gujarat.
While attempting to berth in Mumbai, the ship rammed into the jetty at the 252 chainage mark, causing damage to both the jetty and vessel's bow.
However, there was no casualties to any person or crew and no operations were affected, said an official spokesperson today.

Russian luxury sailing yacht beached by storm, Mallorca Video
Luxury sailing yacht SILA SIBIRI was beached by storm at Palma seafront, Mallorca, on Oct 15. Rescuers decided not to try to refloat the yacht fearing she may sink after refloating. Reportedly, there are 2 crew on board. Yacht is Russian, owned by Russian oligarch and given as a gift to Antarctica 200-year anniversary project, to commemorate the discovery of Antarctic continent in 1820 by a Russian expedition led by Bellingshausen and Lazarev. Bellingshausen and Lazarev became the first explorers to see and officially discover the land of Antarctica continent.

Video: CMA CGM Mumbai Hits Quay in Mumbai Port
Hong Kong-flagged Post Panamax containership CMA CGM Mumbai hit the pier at Jawaharlal Nehru Port, the largest container port in India, on Saturday, October 13, while anchoring.
The pier did not sustain significant damages, it was reported, citing Nhava Sheva police officers. The ship s bow was scraped in the collision, but the damage is minor.

Meriaura Grows Fleet with Two More Ships
VG-Shipping, part of Meriaura Group, has acquired two second-hand 4,100 dwt dry cargo vessels. The duo includes M/S Aava VG (ex. Nemuna), which was delivered to VG-Shipping on October 12, in Antwerp. After discharging its first cargo in Kotka, the vessel will continue to dry dock in Tallinn. The sister ship, M/S Lotta VG (ex Visurgis) is scheduled for delivery in the coming weeks.

Vinalines Cut Debt by USD 440 Mn from 2014 to 2017

Wartsila to Power Ponant s New Cruise Ship
Wartsila s 31 DF dual-fuel engine has been selected to power the polar ice-class luxury cruise vessel being built for the France-based operator Ponant at Vard Soviknes, a part of VARD shipbuilding group in Norway.
The 150-metre long ship is intended to operate in environmentally sensitive Arctic and Antarctic waters, hence it will run primarily on LNG.

Great Lakes cargo down for U.S. ships
Lakers carried 9.36 million tons of cargo last month, down 8.3 percent from September 2017 and 6.6 percent below the month s 5-year average, according to the Lake Carriers Association, which represents 13 American companies and their 45 U.S.-flag ships.
But, those lower numbers shouldn’t be a cause for concern, spokespeople from the Duluth Seaway Port Authority and Interlake Steamship Company said.
