Ferry collided with diving boat, Canary Islands
Ferry ALBORAN collided with service diving boat TRAMES UNO in the afternoon Nov 8 while en route from Las Palmas to Santa Cruz, Canary Islands. Cargo ship sank in Okhotsk sea, 3 missing
EPIRB of general cargo ship ANATOLIY KRASHENINNIKOV was activated at 0810 Moscow time Nov 9 in Kambalnyy Bay, southwest Kamchatka, Okhost sea, north of First Kuril Strait. The ship sank, 10 crew were rescued by nearby fish factory, 3 went missing. The ship was en route from Petropavlovsk to Palana village, Kamchatka, with merchandise goods. 3 crew died in cargo hold of Japanese timber carrier
Three crew of a general cargo ship APPOLO KITA were taken to hospital on Ishigaki island, Japan, Okinawa Prefecture, on Nov 9, after they lost consciousness while working at cargo hold. The ship interrupted her voyage, from Malaysia Kalimantan to Hannan Japan, with cargo of logs, and arrived at Ishigaki anchorage at around 1530 Tokyo time. All three seamen, of Filipino nationality, died. Cause of deaths is believed to be lack of oxygen in cargo hold.Posted On:10-Nov-2018

ABS, Partners to Introduce Space Technology to LNG Shipping
Classification society ABS, OceanFinance and Scorpius Space Launch Company (SSLC) are joining forces to adapt composite technologies developed for the space industry to LNG shipping.
Under the SPACE TECH4SEA project, which is attracting more than EUR 1 million grant funding from the European Commission, the parties aim to apply composite technology, which is lighter and more cost-effective, as a competitive alternative in LNG as marine fuel designs, principally for short sea shipping.Posted On:10-Nov-2018
