Shandong Shipping Tied to Order for Ten Bulkers
Chinese shipping company Shandong Shipping has placed an order for ten 180,000 dwt bulk carriers, according to data provided by Asiasis.
The vessels were reportedly contracted as part of the shipping company s agreements with two financial leasing houses Bocomm Leasing and Huachen Financial Leasing.

Frontline: Tanker Market Has Exited the Cycle Trough
Oil tanker company Frontline reported a net income of USD 2.2 million for the third quarter of 2018, bouncing back from a loss of USD 22.9 million in the previous quarter and USD 34.3 million loss from last year.
Frontline added that during the quarter net loss attributable to the company adjusted for certain non-cash items was USD 8.4 million.

Algoma Still Considering Alternatives for Cancelled Ships at Uljanik
Algoma Central Corporation is still examining potential alternatives to replace the cancelled shipbuilding contracts at the cash-strapped Croatian shipbuilder Uljanik.
Ken Bloch Soerensen, President and Chief Executive Officer, said that the cancellations eliminated CAD 145 million (USD 110 million) of commitments and that CAD 112 million of installment refunds was expected.

PaxOcean Delivers Largest FRSU Built in China
Singapore-based PaxOcean has delivered a 26,000m3 floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) to Indonesia-based Jaya Samudra Karunia (JSK).
Karunia Dewata is the largest FSRU to be built in China and the first to feature Type C cargo tanks. The unit was built at PaxOcean s Zhoushan Shipyard and classed by Lloyd s Register s (LR).

India: Commerce Ministry extends deadline for upgradation of 14 sea ports till March next year
The commerce ministry, for the third time, has extended the deadline till March next year for fourteen sea ports including JNPT, Kandla, Mumbai, Tuticorin and Vishakhapatnam to install radiation monitors and container scanner.
Also, it also said that the ports which fail to meet the deadline will be derecognised for the purpose of import of un-shredded metallic scrap, with effect from April 1 next year.

10 bridges to be built in Istanbul as part of shipping channel construction
Ten bridges will be built in Istanbul, as part of the construction of a shipping channel, Turkish media reported referring to the Transport and Infrastructure Minister of the country Mehmet Cahit Turhan on Nov. 15.
Turhan noted that the construction of the shipping channel will begin in 2019.

Two ports in Kuwait resume maritime traffic after shutdown due to bad weather
Maritime traffic has resumed in Kuwait s Sheweikh and AL-Doha ports after a temporary closure due to bad weather, but Shuaiba port remains closed, Kuwait s Port Authority said on Thursday, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.

Lagos Lilypond terminal up for bids
The APMT-run Lilypond Terminal in Lagos, Nigeria will be advertised for public bidding following confirmation that the concession arrangement between Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and APMT has ended.
APMT s concession for the container terminal began in 2006 and ended in 2016 and the facility will be open for new bids in as soon as official paperwork is concluded, said the NPA, according The PUNCH.

Cheniere opens Texas Corpus Christi LNG export plant
U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) company Cheniere Energy Inc officially opened its $15 billion Corpus Christi LNG export facility in Texas. The company, however, would not say when the first cargo will actually leave the facility, which produced its first LNG on Wednesday.

Valencia union rejects automation bid
The Valencia branch of the Coordinadora port union has rejected the idea of the fourth container terminal being automated. It claims that this will not only put hundreds of jobs at risk, but will also decrease productivity and competitiveness.
The local convenor, Oscar Martinez, told the port’s daily newspaper that the union had been troubled by this prospect for several months.
