COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers Inks Deal for Up to 9 Newbuilds
COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers has ordered five 62,000 dwt multipurpose pulp carriers at Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian). Under the contract, the company has options for four additional vessels from the series.
The investment is said to be in line with Cosco s five-year fleet development plan.

Denmark Adds Offshore Shipping to International Register
The Danish Parliament has approved new regulation following extension of the rules on tax free net wages for seafarers to also include certain specialized vessels.
The Danish Maritime Authority informed that the Danish parliament adopted an extension of the seafarer tax scheme last spring, making it apply to the crew on certain specialized vessels in the offshore sector.

Port of Marseille Fos Reveals LNG Bunkering Master Plan
The Port of Marseille Fos, a major cruise ship port in the heart of the Mediterranean, has set sights on developing LNG bunkering infrastructure as part of its plans on cutting ship pollution and in line with the overall decarbonization strategy of the maritime sector.
A working group, which was set up in 2017 to study the possibilities of introducing LNG as marine fuel in the port, has unveiled a master plan, which confirms the feasibility of an operational LNG bunkering solution.

INPEX: First LPG Shipment Departs Ichthys LNG
INPEX-operated Ichthys LNG Project has commenced shipment of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from the onshore gas liquefaction plant in Darwin in the Northern Territory of Australia.
Undertaken by the LPG carrier Hellas Gladiator, the first shipment of LPG departed Darwin on November 16, 2018, and is destined to an Asian buyer, according to INPEX.

Canada s dry bulk shipping company Fednav has decided to install ballast water treatment systems (BWTS) on seven more vessels.
The company signed a contract with Norwegian BWT specialist Optimarin for the supply of seven USCG-approved Optimarin Ballast Systems (OBS).

Tanker smashed fishing boats after engine failure, Surinam
Product tanker TRADEWIND LEGEND went out of control in New Amsterdam area, approaching Paramaribo port, Suriname river, Surinam, at around 1600 UTC Nov 19. the ship dropped anchor but it didn t stop her, and she ran on river bank near fishing pier, destroying reportedly, 13 fishing boats. Nobody was injured.

Ponant Starts Testing Solid Sail System on Its Vessel
French cruise company Ponant and Saint-Nazaire-based shipyard Chantiers de l Atlantique have joined forces to test out the Solid Sail system on the company s vessel, Le Ponant.
Introduced as part of the sailing cruise-vessel project Silenseas, launched two years ago by Chantiers de l Atlantique, the Solid Sail concept started its testing phase aboard Le Ponant on October 31.

Japanese shipping company Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) has announced the delivery of an LPG carrier for Gyxis Corporation.
The VLGC LPG Genesis River was delivered to the company at Kawasaki Heavy Industries Sakaide Shipyard today.

Fjord1 Agrees New Loan, Gets Ferry Services Deal in Norway
Norwegian transportation company Fjord1 has secured a new loan agreement with compatriot shipping bank DNB and Finnish Nordea Bank.
The facility, which was agreed in October 2018, is for NOK 1,283 million (USD 150.6 million) with a guarantee from Norwegian Guarantee Institute for Export Credits GIEK for NOK 900 million (USD 105.7 million).

Bangladesh scraps new floating LNG projects for land-based terminals
Bangladesh will scrap plans to build additional floating liquefied natural gas import (LNG) terminals in favour of land-based stations, a senior government official said.
Adverse weather is making it difficult to operate the country s sole floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) and, hence, Bangladesh does not plan to build any further FSRU projects, said Mohammad Quamruzzaman, managing director of the Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Co.

Merak Port in the western tip of Java and Bakauheni harbor in the eastern edge of Sumatra are the busiest ferry harbors that connect the two Indonesian major islands.
