Chemoil, Setting New Standards in Fujairah and Khorfakkan with LR accredited Mass Flow Meters
Chemoil Middle East DMCC is proud to announce that their time-chartered and owned barges in Fujairah are fitted with E&H mass flow meter (MFM) systems that have passed their acceptance test to TR48.
Chemoil is committed to meeting industry best practice and worked closely with Lloyd's Register (LR), together with the National Metrology Centre (NMC) of Singapore, A*STAR and bunker consultancy Metcore International, to certify the barge systems to Singapore MPA's TR48 standard.
"Lloyd's Register is proud to assist Chemoil in its drive to continuously improve the accuracy of its measurement techniques," said Douglas Raitt, Lloyd's Register's Marine regional consultancy manager. He continued, "The implementation of this advanced and accredited metering technology sets a new standard for the marine fuels measurement process accessed by Chemoil and its clients in the Middle East, providing tangible financial and resource savings."
TR48 is the only mass flow meter certification to provide the systematic processes and rigorous approach to the complete fuel oil system that gives Chemoil and its customers, the peace of mind to use mass flow meters for custody transfer measurements.
The barges, MT Marine Ista, MT Heredia Sea and MT Lorenzo Sea have a total capacity of 19,500mts IFO & 2,200mts MGO 0.1 covering deliveries in both Fujairah and Khorfakkan.

Africa and shipping - a mutually benefiting cooperation
African governments and businesses are important partners of European shipping companies and the region has become one of the most promising global growth markets. The "blue" economy offers a lot of opportunities, and close cooperation between EU and African institutions and stakeholders is vital. European shipping companies have traditionally had a good, longstanding cooperation with African partners and they have enabled Africa to be connected to world trade. For African stakeholders, projects with the European counterparts offer employment, prosperity and market development.
ECSA will organise an event on 29 November in the European Parliament hosted by MEP Hilde Vautmans. The logistics challenges and opportunities in Africa will be discussed with an impressive number of speakers and panelists. In this event, we will discuss how to ensure mutually benefiting cooperation in the region.

In view of the EU-Africa summit in 2017, the review of the ACP-EU Partnership Agreement (Cotonou agreement) in 2020, and other strategic discussions we think it is timely to exchange with EU policy makers about common opportunities", commented ECSA Secretary General Patrick Verhoeven.
Speakers at the event include the United Nations Committee on Trade and Development, representatives of the European Commission and the European External Action Service, Members of the European Parliament and several shipping companies.
