Wisdom Marine Returns to JMU for Another Panamax
Taiwanese shipping company Wisdom Marine Lines has booked the construction of a 82,400 dwt bulker at Japan Marine United Corporation (JMU). The Tier III NOx compliant newbuild is priced at USD 34 million, Wisdom Marine said in a regulatory filing.

NIMASA to Enforce "Strict Compliance" with IMO Sulphur Cap
The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) is to enforce strict compliance with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulation prohibiting ships from burning marine fuels with sulphur content higher than 0.5 pct by 2020.
Dakuku Peterside, Director General of NIMASA, announced this during UAE Maritime Week in Dubai held from October 28 to November 1, 2018.

Dredger ran onto dam, Netherlands
Dredger EEMSHORN ran onto dam Oosterscheldekering pillar, between the islands Schouwen-Duiveland and Noord-Beveland, Netherlands, at around 0400 UTC Nov 5, was freed at around 0610 UTC, no report on possible damages yet. Dam traffic was temporarily suspended. Dredger taken to Binnenhaven, small harbor at dam s side.

Polish fishing boat sank in collision with container ship, Baltic sea
Container ship BEGONIA S collided with Polish charter fishing boat in the evening Nov 3 off Bornholm island, Baltic sea. Boat sank, 19 people on board, including 3 crew and 16 fishermen, were rescued by Danish SAR rescuers. BEGONIA S was en route from UK to Poland, she was ordered to anchor at Ronne anchorage, Bornholm, for investigation. She anchored at Ronne on Nov 4, in the morning Nov 5 she was still at anchor.

SITC Orders More Feeders from Yangzijiang
Hong Kong-based shipping firm SITC International Holdings has increased the number of feeders on order at China s Yangzijiang Shipbuilding.
Through its subsidiary, SITC Shipowning, the company signed shipbuilding deals for three container vessels on November 2.

TMS Cardiff Gas Adds Two More LNG Carriers to Its Orderbook
Gas carrier owner and operator TMS Cardiff Gas has boosted its newbuilding tally at Korean yards with an order for two more LNG carriers. Based on the company s website, the two 174,000 cbm LNG carriers featuring XDF propulsion, will be delivered in 2020.

Container ship breached in collision, New Mangalore
Container ship X-PRESS BRAHMAPUTRA collided with pier while leaving New Mangalore Port, India, at around 0730 LT Nov 3. The ship sustained hull breach in portside stern area, several meters long. Fuel tank was damaged, fuel spill occurred, but according to official statement, it was quickly taken under control. The ship was brought back, for investigation and repairs. X-PRESS BRAHMAPUTRA is serving Colombo New Mangalore line.

More problems at Kingston Container Terminal
Reports have again surfaced of problems in the clearing of cargo at Kingston Container Terminal (KCT). The Port Trailer Haulage Association issued a news release Thursday afternoon advising the commercial trade to expect delays in receiving shipments from the container terminal, as its members continue to experience lengthy delays.

Port Qasim workers protest enters 40th day
Port Qasim dock workers continued their sit-in for the acceptance of their demands on the 40th consecutive day outside the Karachi Press Club.
A sit-in camp had been established at the press club by the Port Qasim Authorities (PQA) Workers Union to press the authorities to accept their demands.
