EU Gives Green Light for DP World s Unifeeder Takeover
The European Commission has granted its permission to Dubai-based port and terminal operator DP World related to the company s acquisition of Denmark-based Unifeeder Group.
Namely, the Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns as it would have a limited impact on the structure of the markets for the provision of container terminals services and of short-sea shipping services.

Carnival Cruise Line Unveils Name of Its Newest and Largest Ship
Carnival Cruise Line has announced the name of its new XL-class ship to be delivered in 2020. To be named Mardi Gras, the newbuilding will be the largest Carnival Cruise Line ship ever constructed and the first in North America to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Knutsen Orders Small-Scale LNG Carrier from Hyundai Mipo
South Korea s shipbuilder Hyundai Mipo Dockyard has reached an agreement to build a small-scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier for Norway-based Knutsen OAS Shipping. In a stock exchange filing, the shipbuilder said that the contract includes an option for another unit.

Shipowners Welcome Push toward European Maritime Single Window Environment
The European Community Shipowners Association (ECSA) and the World Shipping Council (WSC) have welcomed the adoption of a General Approach on the proposal for a European Maritime Single Window environment (EMSWe) by Transport Ministers.
"With the adoption of this General Approach, the Member States agreed to facilitate, simplify and harmonise the reporting to be done and take a step towards a real internal market for shipping," Martin Dorsman, ECSA s Secretary General, commented.

CMA CGM Becomes the 1st Ocean Carrier Listed on Freightos
French shipping company CMA CGM has unveiled a pilot agreement with online freight marketplace Freightos whereby the company became the first ocean carrier listed on the platform.
Online bookings, guaranteed pricing, and secured capacity on CMA CGM China-US trade lanes are now available on Freightos, with further extension to additional lanes planned in the near future.

Grimaldi Group Adds New PCTC to Its Fleet
Italian shipping company Grimaldi Group has taken delivery of its newest pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) Grande Torino from the Chinese shipyard of Yangfan, Zhoushan.

ONE Still Considering Scrubbers and LNG
Ocean Network Express (ONE) sees adoption of low-sulphur compliant hybrid oil as the most realistic and cost-efficient, but short-term solution, for becoming compliant with the 2020 sulphur cap.
"We are still also carefully considering other possible solutions such as exhaust gas cleaning systems and using liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a fuel, which may be employed in the future," ONE said.

Georgia Announces New Inland Terminal Location
Gov. Nathan Deal, along with representatives of the Georgia Ports Authority, the Greater Hall Chamber and Norfolk Southern Railroad announced plans Monday to make Hall County the site of the GPA s next inland port.
"The Northeast Georgia Inland Port will be situated in the heart of the manufacturing and logistics corridor along Interstate 85, an important region for the production of heavy equipment, food and forest products," Deal said.

South Korean firm proposes building LNG import terminal in Australia
A South Korea-based company has proposed building a terminal on Australia s east coast to import liquefied natural gas, the fifth proposal for such a project in the world s No.2 LNG exporter.
The proposals have come after three new LNG export plants on the east coast have sucked gas out of the southeastern market and nearly tripled wholesale gas prices in places such as Sydney over the past two years.
