NYK to Build Two More LNG Carriers for Total
Japanese shipowner NYK has signed a long-term charter contract with Total Gas & Power Chartering Limited (TGPCL), a subsidiary of French energy major Total, for two LNG carries to be built by Korea s Samsung Heavy Industries Co.
The duo is scheduled for delivery in 2021 and will be equipped with a WinGD-made dual-fuel slow-speed diesel engine ( X-DF diesel engine) that can operate on marine gas oil or boil off gas stored in the cargo tank.

Ukraine Accedes to IMO Load Lines Treaty
Ukraine has acceded to the 1988 Protocol relating to the International Convention on Load Lines, a ship safety treaty, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) said.
Andriy Galushchak, State Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, met IMO Secretary-General Kitack Lim at IMO Headquarters in London on December 5 to deposit the instruments of accession.

MOL to Take Part in Indonesia s Jawa 1 FSRU Project
Japanese shipping company Mitsui O.S.K. Lines has signed agreements related to the construction of a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) for Indonesia s Jawa 1 project.
The FSRU would be provided by PT Jawa Satu Regas (JSR), a joint company of PT Pertamina, Marubeni Corporation, and Sojitz Corporation, to storage and regasify LNG to supply fuel to a gas-fired power plant.

Awilco LNG in Consolidation Talks with LNG Carrier Owners
Oslo-listed Awilco LNG is working with other ship owners on establishing a consolidated LNG shipping structure, the company confirmed addressing media reports on LNG shipping consolidation initiative.
The identity of other companies involved in the talks remained undisclosed.

FSL Looking to Order LR2 Tanker Duo in China
FSL Trust Management, the trustee-manager of First Ship Lease Trust, has signed a Letter of Intent for the construction of two scrubber-fitted tankers.
The company is paying USD 97.2 million for the Tier III 114,000 dwt tanker duo, which will be owned by FSLT subsidiaries, FSL-28, Inc. and FSL-29, Inc.

EU Adds 3 Non-EU Yards to Approved List of Recycling Facilities
The European Commission has added six new yards to its list of approved ship recycling facilities. For the first time, three yards located outside the EU have been included in the list, those being Izmir-based Leyal Gemi Sokum Sanayi ve Ticaret Ltd and Leyal Demtaș Gemi Sokum Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ș. and the U.S.-based International Shipbreaking Limited L.L.C.

Cruise ship SILVER SPIRIT mishap at Key West
Cruise ship SILVER SPIRIT damaged cruise ship mooring dolphin at Mallory Square, Key West, Florida, on Nov 28 while leaving the port:
"The t-shaped berthing platform, called a breasting dolphin, was damaged when a combination of wind and current drove the ship into it. The damage left the mooring unusable." - said City of Key West spokesperson, Alyson Crean.

Fincantieri Launches Carnival Cruise Line s New Ship
Carnival Panorama, the new ship of cruise ship operator Carnival Cruise Line was launched at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Venice on December 6.
Interior fittings will now begin, leading the ship to its delivery, scheduled in autumn 2019. The new unit will be a sister ship of Carnival Vista, delivered in Monfalcone in April, 2016, as well as of Carnival Horizon, built in Marghera and delivered this year in March.

Royal Caribbean to Build New Cruise Terminal at Port of Galveston for Larger Ships
The Port of Galveston has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. on the development and operation of a new cruise terminal.
The long-term lease negotiations could lead to a 60-year transaction: a 20-year initial term and four 10-year options, according to the port.

Labor Party Pushes for Bipartisanship on Australian Shipping Policy
Australian Labor Party has moved to establish a Senate inquiry into Australian shipping to build bipartisan support to reverse the ongoing decline of the nation s maritime industry.
"It is time for all political parties to work with industry and employee representatives to end the policy inertia and collaborate to find an approach that will secure the future of Australian shipping," a statement issued by Anthony Albanese, Labor MP for Grayndler and Shadow Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Cities, Tourism, reads.

NCLH to Construct New Pier at Alaska s Icy Strait Point
Cruise line major Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings has agreed a partnership deal with Alaska Native-owned Huna Totem Corporation to develop a second cruise pier in Icy Strait Point in Hoonah, Alaska.
The company, which operates the Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises brands, informed that the pier is scheduled to be completed for the summer 2020 Alaska cruise season and would be built to accommodate Norwegian Cruise Line s Breakaway Plus-class ships.

India s cargo growth to continue driven by crude, containers: Study
The prospects of the Indian port sector are favourable, supported by healthy growth in cargo of volume drivers like crude and coal, and over the medium to long-term, it will continue to gain traction, ratings agency Icra expects.
Giving the sector a stable year-end outlook, the agency said cargo growth has been driven by domestic requirements of crude oil to meet domestic petroleum requirements, and containers, given the cost and logistical advantages associated with containerisation.

Port of Subic exceeds November collection target by P266 million
The Bureau of Customs (BOC) announced that the Port of Subic has exceeded its monthly collection target for November of P2.081 billion on the back of proper and correct duties and tax collections.
The BOC said in a statement on Tuesday that the Port of Subic has reported revenue collections amounting to P2.347 billion for November, breaching its revenue goal for the month.
