One more strange accident with Master of container ship
Master of Malaysian container ship HARBOUR NEPTUNE was reported missing on Apr 19 by the crew, the ship was en route from Pasir Gudang to Port Klang, Malaysia, Malacca Strait, says Malaysian The Star news outlet. The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) launched SAR, Master was found alive, floating in water in a life jacket, after 18 hours of being in water. What happened and how Master fell overboard at around 2200 LT Apr 18, wearing life jacket, is still a mystery. Investigation launched. The crew including Master, is said to be locked on board since Mar 18, but with that, not Master, nor crew, showed positive virus test. India: AYUSH Minister meets Jaishankar over evacuation of seafarers - Daijiworld.com
Union Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Naik on Monday met Union Minister for External Affairs S. Jaishankar in Delhi to discuss evacuation of thousands of seafarers, including around 8,000 Goan sailors, stranded across the world.
"Met with External Affairs Minister Jaishankar ji today to discuss the issue of seafarers of Goa and from other parts of country who are stranded in different parts of world," Naik, a Lok Sabha MP from North Goa, tweeted.
Naik in his tweet also said that "possible efforts are being made to bring back the stuck seafarers to their home" and that Indian embassies overseas had been advised to extend "all possible help to them".
The Goa government is compiling a list of its over 8,000 seafarers, stranded on different ships at sea and various ports of call across the world.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said that his government with the help of the state s hospitality industry, schools and religious institutions is creating a pool of quarantine locations across the state, where these seafarers can be kept in isolation for the mandated period.Posted On:21-Apr-2020

COVID-19: Chinese shipyard output down 27.3% - Marine Log
China’s shipbuilding industry slowed its production during the first quarter partly due to the coronavirus epidemic, but new orders grew, the Xinhua news agency reports.
The industry completed ships with a tonnage of around 7 million deadweight from January to March, down 27.3 percent year on year, data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology showed.
The country’s shipbuilders received new orders totaling 4.89 million deadweight tonnes during the period, up 6.5 percent from a year earlier.
At the end of last month, China’s shipbuilding sector had orders amounting to 79.55 million deadweight tonnes, down 5.6 percent year on year.
China has the world’s leading shipbuilding industry, accounting for 30.4 percent of the ship tonnage completed by the global shipbuilding industry and winning 65.5 percent of the world’s total new orders during the first quarter, reports Xinhua.Posted On:21-Apr-2020
