Crew allowed to be quarantined on ships.
Erongo health director Anna Jonas says they will allow the fishing sector to quarantine foreign crew on vessels, as long as they receive prior approval from the relevant authorities and is tested for Covid. Jonas responded to the issue raised on Friday by unions and seafarers, who were concerned after 127 foreign crewmembers boarded vessels to replace another group of foreign crew that departed for Europe on the same day. Jonas said this was not the first time that a foreign crew is quarantined on vessels, despite telling New Era on Thursday that no one will be allowed to quarantine crewmembers on board of vessels and that everyone must be quarantined on land before getting on a vessel.

Hong Kong Reinstates Rules for Crew Change After COVID-19 Incident.
Hong Kong has reversed itself reinstituting tighter controls governing crew changes scheduled to take place in the port. A month ago, port officials had relaxed the rules as part of the worldwide effort to facilitate crew changes but decided to reinstate the rules after a recent incident linked to a crew change in the city.
Starting July 10, 2020, crew members arriving in Hong Kong to sign on to a vessel are required to have a negative SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid test performed by an ISO 15189-accredited laboratory within 48 hours prior to departure from their place of embarkation. Further, the crew member must present both the test results and a guarantee letter from the shipping company or agent upon arrival in Hong Kong.

Ship s 28-days-isolated crew allowed ashore in Port Chalmers
If Port Chalmers residents see crew from ships in the port in town, they can be assured robust procedures in place are being followed at Port Otago, chief executive Kevin Winders says.
The Otago Daily Times received a report of crew members from a ship in port walking through town at the weekend and Mr Winders confirmed the crew of a bulk ship, leaving the port today, had been granted approval by the Ministry of Health to go ashore.
He said Port Chalmers residents could have seen the crew of the Lefkada who were given approval by Ministry of Health to go ashore "as their voyage to NZ was longer than 28 days at sea".
