Ferry aground, passengers evacuated, Greece
Ferry ANDROS JET with 46 passengers on board ran aground in Gavrio Harbor, Andros island, Greece, at around 0800 UTC Aug 17, while maneuvering in harbor. Passengers were taken to port, as of 1400 UTC ferry according to AIS, is still aground. She was to be surveyed by divers prior to refloating. No reports on damages, bottom at grounding site said to be sandy.

Greek tanker feared hijacked in Gulf of Guinea
Tanker PANTELENA is missing since late Aug 13 in Gulf of Guinea, all contacts are reported lost, according to statement issued by crewing company from Georgia, Black sea. Crew include 17 Georgia citizen and 2 Russian. Tanker was en route from Lome Togo to Libreville Gabon, last known position dated 2100 UTC Aug 13 in 00 32N 008 48E, some 40 nm west of Libreville. Tanker is deployed in Gulf of Guinea trade, calling ports of coastal States, such as Togo, Gabon, Nigeria, Liberia, Ghana. Owner and crewing company are fearing pirates hijack.

Mercuria Becomes Aegean Marine s Sole Lender
Swiss international commodity trading company Mercuria Energy Group became the sole lender under Aegean Marine Petroleum Network s U.S. and global revolving credit facilities, according to the earlier signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
The parties have executed a letter agreement detailing the USD 30 million of incremental liquidity Mercuria is providing to the company by way of amendments and waivers to the Trade Finance Facility and other financing arrangements.

GOGL to Equip 16 Bulkers with Scrubbers
Ahead of the implementation of new maritime environmental regulations, Norway-based dry bulk shipping company Golden Ocean Group Limited (GOGL) revealed plans to install sixteen scrubbers on its Capesize vessels.
The company has signed contracts for the purchase of sixteen exhaust gas cleaning systems, with options including nine additional scrubbers to be installed on certain of its Capesize ships.

Kongsberg Gets Contracts for Grimaldi s Nine Hybrid RoRo Vessels
Norwegian maritime technology group Kongsberg Maritime has been awarded contracts with China s Nanjing Jinling Shipyard to deliver power and hybrid systems to nine roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) vessels ordered by Italian Grimaldi Group.
The contracts are valued at more than NOK 400 million (USD 47.04 million). They include an option for three additional vessels, increasing the total value to more than NOK 500 million.

Celebrity Cruises Not Liable for Trivia Game Accident
Celebrity Cruises, a part of the Miami-based Royal Caribbean Cruises, has won an appeal of a personal injury lawsuit after a passenger sued the company.
Namely, the U.S. Eleventh Circuit panel affirmed the dismissal of the negligence suit against Celebrity Cruises that was brought by the passenger who was injured while playing a music trivia game aboard the cruise company s Celebrity Infinity ship.

Port of Vancouver, mid-year cargo volume
Growth across most sectors drives record mid-year results at the Port of Vancouver. The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority released the 2018 mid-year statistics for goods moving through the Port of Vancouver. Overall cargo through the port increased 4.4 per cent to 72.1 million metric tonnes (MMT) over the same time last year to reach record mid-year volumes.

Vopak puts petroleum terminals up for sale as second-quarter profit drops
Dutch oil and chemical storage company Vopak on Friday said it would consider selling four European petroleum terminals, as increasing competition in fuel markets led to a stronger than expected drop in second-quarter profit.
Vopak s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) dropped 5 percent in the April-June period to 180.7 million euros ($205.6 million), as the occupancy rate of its terminals declined to 85 percent from 90 percent a year earlier.

Mitsubishi Corporation to Acquire 25% Interest in LNG Receiving Terminal Project in Bangladesh
Mitsubishi Corporation ("MC") has agreed to acquire a 25% interest in Summit LNG Terminal Co (Pvt) Limited ("SLNG") and to develop a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) receiving terminal that uses a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) in Bangladesh. With the acquisition, 75% of SLNG will be held by Summit Corporation Limited ("Summit") and 25% by MC.
