Ship Collision In East China Kills 8 Seafarers, 6 Missing
The ship collision of an oil tanker and a cargo ship in East China at around 3:39 am on Thursday has led to the death of at least 8 people while 6 other seafarers still remain missing.
The accident was reported to have occurred in the afternoon close to the Yangtze River estuary, at about 1.5 nautical miles away on the southeast side. Maritime Authorities in Shanghai say that the oil tanker that carried about 3000 tonnes of gasoline collided right into a cargo ship stacked with sand and gravel.Posted On:25-Aug-2020

CMA CGM launches humanitarian shipping relief effort for Lebanon.
CMA CGM has launched a humanitarian relief effort to ship aid to Lebanon following the devastating blast at the Port of Beirut earlier this month.

Intermanager publishes open letter to IMO over Singapore crew change restrictions.
International trade association for the ship management industry InterManager on Wednesday (19 August) published an open letter addressed to Kitack Lim, the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization, on behalf of its members and associates.
InterManager said the letter urges Lim to offer more support to the global maritime industry with regards to the Singaporean repatriation issue.

More than 200 migrants rescued in 48 hours in Mediterranean by Sea-Watch 4.
About a week after being launched, the Sea-Watch 4, the latest humanitarian rescue ship to have set sail in the Mediterranean, has completed three rescues in the last 48 hours. On Monday, August 24, the boat s crew tweeted that they now have "more than 200 people on board."
The Sea-Watch 4 set sail from the Spanish port of Burriana near Valencia on August 15. A little over a week after its maiden voyage, the humanitarian rescue ship has already completed three rescues "in the last 48 hours."

Engine room explosion injured 4 crew, Greece.
Explosion occurred in engine room of passenger ro-ro ferry BLUE HORIZON at Heraklion Port, Crete, in the morning Aug 24. Four crew were injured and taken to hospital, understood their condition isn t life-threatening. Official said that assumedly, the pump exploded. As of afternoon Aug 24, the ship remained berthed at Heraklion.
