Hunter Group Takes More Time to Decide on VLCC Trio Order
Norwegian investment company Hunter Group has reached a deal to extend the option agreement for three very large crude carriers (VLCCs) until October 19, 2018.

European Shipowners Call for More Compliant Ship Recycling Facilities
Worried that the current recycling capacity included on the EU list is not enough to meet the demands of the EU Ship Recycling Regulation, the European Community Shipowners Association (ECSA) is asking for more capacity to be added to the list of approved ship recycling facilities.

The use of scrubbers will not last for more than ten years because the high acidity of the wash-water is a challenge for the integrity of the installation, Dragos Rauta, Technical Director at Intertanko, said in a report.

Kalmar hybrid straddle carriers to boost eco-efficiency at DP World Southampton
Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has signed a contract with DP World Southampton to supply 12 hybrid straddle carriers for use at their container terminal. The Southampton agreement also includes maintenance and operator training as well as six months of on-site maintenance support. Mombasa port expects 22 cargo ships in next two weeks
A weekly dispatch from the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) states that the vessels will dock at the conventional cargo terminal to discharge 402, 533 metric tonnes and load 10,400 metric tonnes.
