Brand new fish carrier grounding, Norway |
Brand new fish carrier RONIA DIAMOND ran aground on a rocky shallow north of Sortland, Norway, in the morning Dec 13. Vessel managed to come off rocks by own means, in about an hour or less than an hour, and headed for Sortland for survey, escorted by salvage boat RS Knut Hoem. Underwater survey, carried out at Sortland, found underwater hull damages, understood dry docking required. Grounding is said to be caused by miscalculation of tidal depth change. RONIA DIAMOND left Sortland after survey and as of morning Dec 14 was heading for Bodoe, Norway. Dec 14 FETEKOZ Update: Towage commenced in the afternoon Dec 13, port of destination unknown. It’s Funchal Madeira according to RED SEA FOS (ETA Dec 18) it’s still Bayonne according to tanker. Another Turkish tanker CY CORK (IMO 9393060), which broke down in the Atlantic earlier and was taken on tow, was to be towed to Funchal, but plan has been changed, she’s to be towed all the way down to port of destination Yalova Turkey.
