ILO Adopts New Minimum Wage for Seafarers
A subcommittiee of the ILO has agreed to raise the minimum wage for seafarers to up to $673 per month following the conclusion of negotiations between shipowners and seafarers’ unions. European Parliament brings EU ETS closer to shipping
Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) voted to extend the scope of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) to include maritime transport. India: RND facing shortage of sailors for past 7 years
If not just the breakdown of the old ferry boats, the River and Navigation Department (RND) is also grappling with shortage of sailors. East African ports expect more ships after drop in piracy
More ships are expected to make calls at East African ports following a drop in maritime crime targeting shipping lines over the past 20 years.
