Coffee Shipped by Sailboats In Efforts To Distrupt The Heavy Ships Command Of The High Seas
There’s never been a more dreamy way to have your coffee delivered than a sailboat across the Atlantic. A small number of specialty roasters in Europe are now offering beans that have been sailed — rather than shipped via fossil-fuel burning vessels — from South America. While they’re a rare luxury compared with standard bags of supermarket coffee,.. -gCaptain

USA: Looking Back to Move Forward - Celebrating Women Mariners on National Maritime Day
In a year in which much attention is rightly being paid to improving the shipboard workplace environment for women, it’s easy to lose sight of the many accomplished women mariners who have joined the profession over the past half-century. One in eight merchant mariners are now women, and they play an increasingly crucial role in ensuring we have a sufficient number of merchant marine officers... -gCaptain

Why are We Still Asking if Women Belong at Sea?
Over the last year much has been written about female mariners and our role in the maritime industry; unfortunately, the tone and tenor of the coverage might unintentionally dampen the remarkable progress women are making in breaking into this male-dominated realm. I am a proud merchant mariner and a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Since 2008, my career has spanned both the maritime and offshore industries,.. -The Maritime Executive

LNG and the Road to Net Zero
Driven by an ambitious IMO decarbonization strategy and calls from the European Parliament and European Commission to reduce global emissions from shipping, the maritime industry is facing the prospect of transitioning from a century-old fuel source between now and 2050. The path from heavy fuel oil (HFO) to a zero-emissions future is likely to have several stops along the way, starting with LNG... -The Maritime Executive

Seafaring with no fearing
In June 1997, British flagged oil tanker “Chilham Castle” departed Mina Al Ahmadi port in the Persian Gulf after loading about 26k tons of petroleum products, heading towards Port Louis in Mauritius during the strong southwest monsoon season.
