Indian Coast Guard rescues five fishermen after boat capsizes
Five fishermen from a capsized fishing boat have been rescued by the Coast Guard and the merchant vessel Alliance in a coordinated operation. A search operation is on for a sixth fisherman who went missing. The merchant vessel spotted the capsized boat Bigily around 42 nautical miles northwest of Kochi and alerted the Maritime Rescue Sub Centre in Kochi. Indian sailors stuck in Colombo for 3 years
Six seafarers, stuck at a port in Colombo, claim they have not been paid their daily wages for past almost three years by their Mumbai-based employers. No steps yet to remove fuel from sunken vessel
While measures are yet to be taken for de-fueling and salvaging the sunken merchant vessel Princess Miral, there has not been any instance of fuel leakage from the vessel.
