Total Seals USD 1.5 Bn Takeover of Engie s LNG Business
French energy giant Total has closed the acquisition of Engie s portfolio of upstream liquefied natural gas (LNG) assets for an overall enterprise value of USD 1.5 billion.
Should the oil market mark a major improvement in the coming years, Total s bill could be increased by additional USD 550 million. The takeover, revealed back in November 2017, has secured Total the second place on global scale of LNG players.Posted On:14-Jul-2018

A Golden Year for Cruise Shipbuilding
Last year was another golden year for the cruise shipbuilding sector, ASSONAVE, an association representing the majority of the Italian shipbuilding industry, said.
The cruise sector closed 2017 with a high level of new orders - 23 ships of over 10,000 CGT compared to 25 in 2016, for a total of 71,200 LB versus 45,162 LB in 2016. IMO Secretary-General on Key Maritime Issues in China
First stop: the Dalian Maritime University. International Maritime Organization (IMO) Secretary-General Kitack Lim marked the start of the Master s degree programme on Maritime Safety and Environmental Management - a joint programme with the World Maritime University (WMU) during a busy visit to China (10-11 July).

Port projects under scrutiny
After the focus on rail projects in the new government s austerity drive, attention has now shifted to a proposed giant port in Selangor and an offshore development in Melaka.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the proposal for a RM200 billion port and industrial city project on Carey Island will now require the approval of parliament, and also be subjected to a feasibility study. As for the RM43 billion Melaka Gateway project, which includes a deep-sea port, Loke said no sign of work has been seen at the development site.Posted On:14-Jul-2018

NICIS has reduced cargo delivery time - Ologbese
Contrary to media report that the newly-introduced Nigerian Integrated Customs Information System, NICIS, is causing delay of cargo delivery at the ports, a maritime stakeholder, Prince Olu Ologbese, has absolved Nigeria Customs Service of any blame, saying "the initiative is yielding result as the agency has recorded an increase in its revenue profile."
Ologbese said the NICIS initiative not only reduced the time of joint examination exercise, it has also reduced the issue of multiple documentation processes and proce-dures suffered by both importers and agents.Posted On:14-Jul-2018
