India: Rs 140 cr to be spent on modernisation of Kochi harbour.
Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) is set to work with Cochin Port Trust (CPT) to modernise Kerala's pivotal Cochin Fisheries Harbour with over a dozen key features that will enhance the unit value of realisation of sea-caught items and minimise post-harvest losses. Philippines: Marina extends anew the validity of expiring STCW certificates.
The Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) extends the validity of Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) certificates of seafarers which are expiring from March 13, 2020, to December 31, 2020.

Trawling is a method of fishing that involves pulling a fishing net through the water behind one or more boats. Trawl gear affects the environment in both direct and indirect ways. Boxship Crewmember Charged in Connection With Stabbing Death.
A crewmember from the container ship MSC Ravenna has been arrested in Los Angeles and charged with one count of "performing an act of violence against a person onboard a ship that is likely to endanger the safe navigation of the ship," a federal offense.

Work Proceeding on the Largest Containership LNG Conversion to Date.
Work is underway on a unique project converting a traditional containership to be able to use liquefied natural gas as its fuel. Contracted in March 2019, conversion of the 15,000 TEU Hapag-Lloyd container ship Sajir will be the first mega-container vessel to be converted to dual-fuel operation.
