The Indian National Shipowners Association (INSA), the local shipping industry lobby group, has sought the governments help to deal with pirate attacks in the Gulf of Guinea.

Crew from Marine Rescue Ulladulla saves sailor in perilous conditions
A crew from Marine Rescue UIladulla has rescued a solo sailor from a 33 foot yacht taking on water and sinking in perilous conditions off the Illawarra coastline.
A crew from Marine Rescue Ulladulla has returned the solo sailor safely to shore at Ulladulla, where he was met by his relieved wife. The man is reported to have sustained some bruising but is in otherwise good condition.Posted On:30-Jan-2021

Disabled tanker taken to A Coruna for repairs
Product tanker ADFINES SKY with 18000 tons of diesel fuel on board suffered engine failure on Jan 24 in Bay of Biscay north of A Coruna, Spain, while en route from West Africa to Rotterdam. Understood tanker was towed to A Coruna, reached port early Jan 27, and was berthed for repairs. Port of Zeebrugge increased container volume by 10.3%
Despite the many challenges plaguing world economies this past year, the Port of Zeebrugge reached a total growth of nearly 3 percent in 2020 compared to 2019 figures.

Korean general cargo ship sank north of Jeju, 8 crew rescued.
Korean general cargo ship in the morning Jan 29 suffered massive water ingress in fore cargo hold area some 4 nm southwest of Cheongsando island, Wando County, southern Korea, while en route from Jeju to Nokdong Port. 8 crew were rescued by Wando Maritime Rescue and Coast Guard, the ship sank at 0832 Seoul time, shortly after the crew were rescued.Posted On:30-Jan-2021

Latvian freighter aground Swedish port
General cargo ship RIX STAR ran aground at around 2300 UTC Jan 28 in Falkenberg harbor, Sweden, on arrival from Gothenburg, and blocked fairway, stopping all port s in/out traffic. The ship is to undergo underwater survey during Jan 29, but authorities believe she won t be refloated on Jan 29.
