Human rights of Indian seafarers trampled by China says NHRC
India has asked China to urgently provide practical and time-bound assistance to help the sailors stuck in the two ships anchored off the Jingtang and Caofeidian ports.

India: Krishnapatnam Port management reach pact with workers union to end stand-off
The administration of Krishnapatnam Port Co Ltd (KPCL) reached an settlement with Krishnapatnam Port Clearing and Forwarding Employees Union on December 31 to finish a stand-off with a bit of the port employees over shorter working hours and wage arrears, amongst different points.

Philippines in temporary crew change ban on vessels arriving from 20 countries
The Philippines Port Authority (PPA) said in Facebook post that from 30 December 2020 to 15 January 2021 it would disallow crew change for vessels from an initial list of 20 countries at it's crew change facilities including those in Manila South Harbor, Port Capinpin in Orion, Bataan, Port of Sasa in Davao and Port of Batangas.
PPA said the ban of crew change from vessels coming from these countries was part of the "country's bid to prevent the entry of the new Covid-19 strain through the country's ports".Posted On:4-Jan-2021

Bangladesh: Mongla Port sees record ship anchoring in December
Mongla Port, the second largest sea harbor of the country, witnessed anchoring of at least 117 foreign ships in last December breaking all previous records, said an official.

India: Government floats PPP model for dredging projects at major port trusts
The Government has floated the concept of undertaking channel deepening and maintenance works at major port trusts through the public-private-partnership (PPP) mode.
"A PPP model may be worked out for dredging projects with the hybrid model of combining the capital dredging with maintenance dredging for 10-20 years," according to the draft dredging guidelines for major port trusts prepared by the ministry of ports, shipping and waterways.Posted On:4-Jan-2021

Ukrainian crew of car carrier fought off armed robbers at Casablanca
On Jan 1 several perpetrators, armed with knives and clubs, sneaked on board of car carrier VIKING DIAMOND, berthed at Casablanca, Morocco. The crew, consisting mostly of Ukrainian sailors from Odessa, didn t panic or succumb, and fought robbers off with whatever was at hand. Chinese cargo ship sank on New Year eve, 2 dead 7 missing
Cargo ship DINGHAOJI7 issued distress signal on Dec 30, reporting water ingress, flooded hold, and requesting assistance in Hangzhou Bay, south of Shanghai.
