U.S. CDC issues framework for resumption of cruise ship operations.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Friday issued a framework for a phased resumption of cruise ship operations after a no-sail order issued in March in response to the coronavirus pandemic expires on Saturday.
The CDC said it was requiring testing and additional safeguards for crew members. A U.S. House of Representatives committee is investigating if the White House last month blocked the CDC from extending the no-sail order through mid-February.Posted On:31-Oct-2020

Titled "Why Digital is the Way Ahead for Shipping" and sponsored by ABS, the class society s senior vp for digital solutions, Kash Mahmood, revealed that 56% of its maritime clients are currently testing smart asset monitoring. Russian Master died on board of tanker during voyage.
Product tanker GOGLAND on Oct 30 reported Master of Russian nationality in need of immediate medical assistance, understood he was unconscious, no detectable pulse. The ship was off Vigo, Spain, Atlantic, en route from Tallinn Estonia to Ravenna Italy. Rendezvous was appointed, tanker approached Spanish coast 90 nm west of Vigo mouth, Master was airlifted by Spanish CG helicopter and taken to Vigo airport, where on arrival, he was declared dead, regretfully.Posted On:31-Oct-2020
