India: Ports - 101 projects lined up under PM Gati Shakti
Emerging as one of the early movers under PM Gati Shakti, the national master plan for bolstering multi-modal connectivity, the ministry of ports, shipping and waterways has identified 101 projects for implementation by 2024-25. Bangladesh: Call for easy policy to tap blue economy potentials
"We have to make policies which are conducive to business. We have laws which dictate that goods bought with government funds must be carried by government vessels. I think this is contradictory to the policies of the incumbent government of Bangladesh. Technology’s role in progress towards carbon neutrality in maritime industry
The maritime industry is already the most energy-efficient mode of transport of goods and people. This efficiency results from the critical mass it enjoys – transporting 23,000 containers at one go, on a single ship. Container ship disabled in English Channel
Container ship MAERSK BULAN was disabled at around 0730 UTC Nov 26 in English Channel north of Boulogne, while en route from Southampton UK to Antwerp. While adrift, was under constant surveillance of CROSS Gris-Nez, France. Resumed sailing some 3 hours later, at 1030 UTC, berthed at Antwerp at 0200 UTC Nov 27. Disabled Indian bulk carrier taken on tow in English Channel, in stormy weather
Bulk carrier TBC PROGRESS suffered, understood, engine or mechanical failure 0300 UTC Nov 27 in English Channel 26 nm north of Cherdourg, while en route from Rouen France to Las Palmas, Canary islands. French MRCC, CROSS Jobourg, was alerted and responded by scrambling helicopter and sending SAR tug ABEILLE LIBERTE (IMO 9308699). Livestock carrier, illegal transporter of illegal migrants
