World s Largest LNG Bunker Supply Vessel Starts Operations
The world s largest LNG bunker supply vessel Kairos started operations in Northwest Europe on December 11, 2018.
Chartered by Blue LNG, a joint venture of the Hamburg-based LNG supplier Nauticor with a 90% share and the Lithuanian energy infrastructure provider KN with a 10% share, the ship was handed over by the owner Babcock Schulte Energy in the port of Klaipeda.

TT-Line Orders Green Ship in China
Germany-based ferry company TT-Line has placed an order for a dual fuel vessel with China s shipbuilder Jiangsu Jinling.
Under the deal, which includes an option for one further unit, the company s new ferry would be delivered during 2022. Following delivery, the vessel would be used within TT-Line s route network in the Baltic Sea.

FSL to Finance Newbuildings by Selling Ageing Ships
Singapore-based FSL Trust Management has unveiled its plan to sell ageing vessels in order to collect funds for the construction of two new tankers.
The decision comes on the back of a Letter of Intent signed for the construction of two scrubber-fitted tankers, which has now been realized into a firm shipbuilding contract with China s Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry.

South Korea s Samsung Heavy Industries has clinched another contract for the construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier.According to the company s stock exchange filing, the latest order was received from an unnamed shipowner from the Oceania region.

Report: DSME Workers Occupy a Crane, Demand Pay Hike
South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) has reportedly been faced with another worker protest, resulting in suspension of operations at a giant dock crane at one of its facilities.
According to the reports from Korean media, two workers from DSME s metal union mounted a 40-meter tall crane and launched a sit-down strike, demanding pay increase.

Proman Shipping Names Its Largest Vessel Yet
South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) hosted a naming ceremony for a 52,000-tonne methanol carrier being built for Japanese shipowner Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL).
The vessel was named Castara by Methanol Holdings (Trinidad) Limited, which together with Proman Shipping, are part of Switzerland-headquartered natural gas provider Proman Group, the vessel s charterer.

MAIB: Vessel s Weak Safety Culture Led to Fatal Accident
Weak safety culture aboard the Liberian-registered general cargo vessel, SMN Explorer, led to a fatal accident in February 2018, a report from UK s Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) showed.
Namely, on February 1, a crewman from the cargo vessel SMN Explorer was fatally crushed while working on deck when a stowage space hatch cover fell on him.

Scorpio Group, owned and controlled by the Lolli-Ghetti family, has taken control of Nordic American Offshore (NAO), via a private placement into company s shares worth USD 5 million.

Quantum Pacific Shipping Gets USD 40 Mn Loan for Scrubbers
Singapore-based Quantum Pacific Shipping has secured a loan to finance the purchase and installation of exhaust gas cleaning systems on its vessels.
According to data provided by law firm Watson Farley & Williams Singapore, BNP Paribas and the shipping firm reached an agreement on a loan of up to USD 40 million.

BW LNG Confirms Order at DSME
BW LNG, BW Group s LNG shipping company, revealed that it has placed an order for two more LNG carrier newbuildings with South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME).
DSME announced the contract on December 5, saying the deal was secured with an American client.

AIDAnova, World s 1st LNG Cruise Ship, Delivered
German shipbuilder Meyer Werft has delivered the world s first cruise ship to be powered solely by LNG, AIDAnova, to its owner AIDA Cruises.
The initial delivery, scheduled for November, was postponed by Meyer Werft in October as the shipbuilder needed more time to thoroughly test all of the ship s systems in order to ensure smooth operation of the vessel.
