Three Greek sailors abducted by pirates in Nigeria back in Greece
Three Greek sailors who had been abducted by pirates in Nigeria arrived safely back in Greece on Friday.
The captain and two crew-members of the ship "Stelios K" arrived in Greece after a stopover in the capital of Qatar, Doha.
One of the sailors left immediately for Ikaria, while the captain and the other sailor left for their homes in Athens.
"They treated us well, they gave us water and soup, we are fine," said the ships captain, without wanting to go into further detail about the conditions of his captivity.

India: We are trying to attract big container ships: Cochin Port chief
The resurgence of Willingdon Island, once a thriving business hub of all port-related activities, has been on top of the agenda for the Cochin Port Trust ever since the migration of container terminal operations to the Vallarpadam Island in 2011.
But the establishment of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) Terminal in the nearby Puthuvypeen Island in Kerala seems to have sharpened this focus, particularly with the completion of the Kochi-Mangaluru pipeline of GAIL.

Dredging spoils transform into new terminal at the Port of Gothenburg
180,000 cubic meters of dredged material are currently being reused as filling material in the construction of the Port of Gothenburgs next major investment. When the masses have been stabilized and solidified and further surface work have been completed, 140,000 square meters of new, long-awaited terminal space, will be available in the Port of Gothenburg.

Container port congestion could lead to price rises
A rebound in demand for consumer goods around the world has led to multiple delays at container ports. Freight rates have risen from 12 to 25 per cent, and these cost increases may eventually reach the consumer.
"The situation does not affect Cyprus directly, and our container port is not seeing delays," said Captain Eugen Adami, CEO of Mastermind ShipManagement in Limassol.

Indian Coast Guard rescues 19 Bangladeshi fishermen off the coast of Odisha.
Nineteen Bangladeshi crewmen were rescued from a fishing boat named Rana , by the Indian Coast Guard early this week, official sources revealed here on Saturday. The boat was adrift for 10 days at the sea southeast of Paradip off the coast of Odisha, because of a mechanical breakdown.

Shipping Ministry issues draft Indian Ports Bill, 2020
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways issued a draft of Indian Ports Bill 2020 for public consultation which will repeal and replace the Indian Ports Act 1908 (Act No. 15 of 1908).
The draft seeks to, inter alia, enable structured growth and sustainable development of ports to attract investments in the Port sector for optimum utilisation of the Indian Coastline by effective administration and management of ports.

Gas platform disappeared in Adriatic sea, sank wreck found 6 days later
Gas drilling monopod platform IVANA D disappeared without a trace in Adriatic sea halfway between Croatian and Italian coasts, some 27 nm NW of Pula, on Dec 5, when a strong storm hit northern Adriatic waters. Platform is designed to run unmanned, so there were no people on board. Gas wells and pipeline were shut-off by remotely activated safety system.

Container ship contacted Brunsbuettel lock, damaged, Kiel Canal
Container ship CONMAR BAY, pushed by a strong gust of wind, contacted safety fenders while approaching northern lock at Brunsbuettel, Kiel Canal, completing her southbound transit early in the morning Dec 11. Fenders and lock s gate didn t sustain damages, while CONMAR BAY suffer starboard side railing dent at some 25 meters length, understood on a cargo deck.

Aframax tanker disabled by fire in engine room.
Tanker was taken on tow by salvage tug SALVAGE CHAMPION (IMO 7530444), understood to be towed to Singapore. Towage interrupted on Dec 12, tanker anchored in Batanes islands waters, Philippines, Luzon Strait, with SALVAGE CHAMPION standing by. Most probably, caravan is waiting out rough weather, but tanker may probably, run aground.
