Four perpetrators boarded the Philippine-flagged bulk carrier Western Seattle while the ship was en route to Singapore on February 28, 2020.
The boarding occurred approximately 3.5 nm east of Pulau Karimun Kecil, Indonesia in the eastbound lane of the IMO-adopted Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS) in the Singapore Strait.

Abu Dhabi Ports, Robert Allan to Develop World s 1st Autonomous Tugs |
The UAE-based port operator Abu Dhabi Ports has partnered up with Canadian naval architectural and marine engineering firm Robert Allan Ltd. to develop the world s first fully unmanned autonomous commercial marine tugs.
The duo will closely work on the research and development of remotely-controlled marine tugs that will be fully unmanned, and be able to operate within a wide spectrum of autonomy.

Sampling kits intended for testing for coronavirus are being flown onto a cruise ship that is being held off San Francisco, California, with thousands of people on board as some of the ship s crew and passengers developed symptoms linked to the outbreak.
Specifically, a cluster of individuals has been identified for testing after a Northern California man in his 70ies died from the illness upon his return from a San Francisco-to-Mexico cruise on Grand Princess from 11-21 of February.

DNV GL Awards Industry s 1st Ship Cybersecurity Verification |
ABB s solutions on board a large passenger ship have been awarded cybersecurity verification from classification society DNV GL, the technology company said.
As a result, this vessel became the industry s first to achieve system compliance under DNV GL s framework for integrated cybersecurity.
The cybersecurity resilience for the vessel was enabled by close collaboration of ABB, the shipowner and DNV GL during the construction phase at a shipyard in Europe. Cybersecurity management processes will continue during the ship s operations, with the system s resilience maintained throughout the lifetime of the vessel, according to ABB.

Bulker Collides with Fishing Vessel off Adelaide |
Australian-flagged bulker Accolade II collided with a fishing vessel named Sand Groper off Port Adelaide, on February 29, 2020.
Accolade II sustained minor damage while Sand Groper sustained damage to the starboard bow and stabilizer. There were no reported injuries or pollution from either vessel, according to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.

Kenya s new port of Lamu will start operations as a transshipment hub when the complete berth and container yard are commissioned in early March.
The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) had proposed that Section 34(i) of the East African Community Customs Management Act be amended to remove the requirement for transshipment entry, to make it easier to transact and handle cargo.

Abu Dhabi Ports announced yesterday its collaboration with a global commercial vessel designer and tugboat leader, Robert Allan Ltd., to develop the world s first fully unmanned autonomous commercial marine tugs.
Once developed, the tugs will join SAFEEN, Abu Dhabi Ports maritime service arm, which maintains an expanding fleet of world-class service vessels.
