Ferry ISOLA DI CAPRAIA with 7 passengers on board ran onto breakwater in San Nicola harbor, Tremiti Islands, Italy, Adriatic sea, in the morning May 24, on arrival from Termoli, Italian mainland. Ferry was refloated, probably by own means, and left San Nicola in the afternoon same day, destination Termoli. Damages reportedly are slight or none, mechanical malfunction is believed to be the cause of the accident.

Container ship APL ENGLAND lost 40 containers in rough seas, Australia |
Container ship APL ENGLAND reported cargo loss early in the morning May 24 some 40 nm SE of Sydney, after temporary power loss, in rough weather. At least 40 containers went overboard, 74 were damaged. The ship was en route from Shanghai to Melbourne, ETA May 25. After the accident, she turned back and headed for Brisbane, ETA May 25.

Filipino crew member died friday night on ship - Miami Herald |
A crew member aboard a Virgin Voyages ship died Friday night, the U.S. Coast Guard said. The company says the crew members death is not coronavirus-related.
The crew member, a 32-year-old Filipino man, died from "apparent self-harm" aboard Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady, the Coast Guard said.

India : SWFS declares COVID-19 Assistance scheme for seafarers |
Seafarers Welfare Fund Society (SWFS) has declared COVID-19 Assistance Scheme for the seafarers with Indian CDC.
The Goan Seamen Association of India (GSAI) has however requested the government to explore possibilities to utilise the welfare fund to avoid levying paid quarantine charges to the shipping company or the seafarers returning to Goa.
The scheme has been started for the betterment of seafarers who have faced bad times during COVID-19 pandemic. It will be a sigh of relief for the seafarers. The scheme is applicable for a limited period from February 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020.

Filipino crew members ask federal judge for emergency relief |
Filipino crew members on Royal Caribbean Cruises Celebrity ships are asking a federal judge to order the company to send them home immediately.
In a lawsuit filed in federal court in Miami Thursday, Ryan Maunes Maglana, a Filipino crew member on the Celebrity Millennium ship docked in San Diego, said he and his colleagues have been held against their will without pay for more than two months as the company has repeatedly delayed repatriation plans for them. On behalf of all Filipino crew members on Celebrity s 14 ships, Maglana is asking the court to intervene with emergency relief.
