India : 8 Hyd seafarers return home from Spain
A group of Indian seafarers, who were stranded in Barcelona, Spain, when the lockdown was announced reached home finally. Among the 23 seafarers were eight sailors from Hyderabad.

600 homecoming Filipino seafarers arrive at NAIA.
More than 600 Filipino seafarers arrived on Monday at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), the DFA said.
A total of 306 Filipino seafarers arrived from Norway at 4 p.m. on Monday.
"A total of 306 Filipino seafarers of Viking Cruises from Norway will soon be reunited with their loved ones. The DFA credits another successful repatriation to the strong Bayanihan spirit that unites us in these challenging times," the DFA said in a Twitter post.Posted On:10-Jun-2020

Iranian mega container ship distressed when entering Xiamen on arrival from Iran
Iranian mega container ship went out of control after engine failure, while approaching Xiamen Container Terminal with pilot on board, in port s fairway, around 0530 Beijing time Jun 9. Giant ship was ordered to keep her course as far as moment permits, in order to leave fairway and avoid possible traffic blocking. Tugs were sent to assist, BARZIN managed to move from channel and anchor in a safe zone. India : Seafarers special flights gain traction for crew change in foreign ports - BusinessLine
Ship managers and manning companies operating from India are running chartered flights to Doha and Colombo every alternate day as crew change at foreign ports gain traction with global deadline being a June 16, on staff swap drawing near.
VR Maritime Services has arranged 22 chartered flights of SpiceJet for seafarers which will make 44 trips to Colombo/Doha and back with each flight carrying at least 160 crew on the 180-seater planes, said the Mumbai-based company’s Managing Director Captain Sanjay Prashar.Posted On:10-Jun-2020

Hong Kong Eases Crew Change Rules as Calls Grow Worldwide.
Hong Kong became the latest jurisdiction to take steps to facilitate crew changes for the shipping industry as calls for action continue to grow around the world. Recently, ship owners, labor organizations, and other maritime associations have all highlighted the problems of crew changes due to COVID-19 related restrictions.
The Hong Kong Shipowners Association (HKSOA) announced that after an ongoing effort the authorities have agreed to revise the rules to permit unrestricted crew transfers. "The Chief Secretary has exercised his powers to approve the exemption of crew members of goods vessels, including those without cargo operations, from compulsory quarantine under Cap. 599E to undergo crew changes in Hong Kong," said HKOSA.Posted On:10-Jun-2020

USA: Six more COVID positives on Tustumena - Sailings delayed until June 27.
After the Alaska State Ferry Tustumena returned to Homer Monday night a bit past 7 p.m., healthcare personnel from South Peninsula Hospital boarded in protective garb to take COVID-19 test samples from 40 crew members and the six passengers on board.
According to the Alaska Department of Transportation, all were kept aboard the Tustumena overnight while the rapid tests were analyzed at SPH.
In an announcement Tuesday, six additional crew members were reported to have come down with the disease, bringing the total to seven, including the first case, discovered when the Tustumena was in Unalaska on Saturday.Posted On:10-Jun-2020
