Nakilat celebrates 'Day of the Seafarer' to honour marine staff Nakilat has celebrated ‘Day of the Seafarer' for its marine personnel in recognition of their innumerable contributions to the company.
The celebration took place on Saturday at the Seafarer's Centre at Ras Laffan with strong participation from marine personnel from both Nakilat and non-Nakilat vessels berthed at the Port of Ras Laffan.
Day of the Seafarer is an official United Nations international observance day held on June 25 annually by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).
Nakilat managing director Abdullah Fadhalah al-Sulaiti said, "Nakilat recognises that its people are its greatest asset, playing a vital role in enabling the safe and reliable transportation of Qatar's LNG and LPG exports to global markets. Our successes thus far are in no small part due to the hard work and dedication by our team of staff, especially seafarers working onboard our vessels. This occasion presents us with the opportunity to appreciate seafarers for all their efforts towards the realisation of the Company's goals and ultimately Qatar's National Vision 2030."
"As the leading shipping company in Qatar, we have a responsibility not only to our employees but also the maritime industry. By encouraging participation of non-Nakilat seafarers as well in our celebration, we are demonstrating our commitment towards crew welfare by promoting cohesion and camaraderie amongst seafarers, in line with IMO's event theme: At Sea for All."
