The Mission To Seafarers Announces New Seafarer Support Campaign
The Mission to Seafarers yesterday announced the launch of a new flagship campaign to address the severe welfare issues facing seafarers worldwide in the wake of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The Flying Angel campaign is a top priority for the Mission as crews remain trapped on vessels owing to travel restrictions, subject to quarantine upon returning home, and unable to contact loved ones The Mission has targeted a funding total of £600,000 to deliver this programme which will have significant benefits to the entire industry.Posted On:4-Jun-2020

Bulk carrier sank, Bay of Bengal UPDATE refloated
Jun 3 UPDATE: Bulk carrier was grounded when sudden storm lashed at Mongla port at night Jun 2, while offloading cargo of limestone, destined for cement mills. Many Governments Failing Cruise Crew Repatriation.
"The challenges in repatriating seafarers on cruise vessels around the world have highlighted the shortcomings of many governments in this worldwide crisis," Lena Dyring, director of cruise operations for the Norwegian Seafarers Union, told Cruise Industry News. "These shortcomings have caused a toxic, compounding domino effect for seafarers who were and still are stuck on cruise ships around the world and caused a lot of human suffering."

Good News For 3,000 Carnival Cruise Line Team Members.
As Carnival Cruise Line s efforts to repatriate crew members from around the world continues, they got a big assist from the port of Dubrovnik last week. "Luckily," said the company s president, Christine Duffy, "Carnival has great port partners all around the world who are working with the company. And today, we’d like to recognize our friends in the Republic of Croatia and the Port of Dubrovnik."

USA: CDC s New Color-coded Guidance Will Make Disembarking Ships Easier for Stranded Crew .
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will start assigning cruise ships a color-coded status to aid with the disembarking stranded crew, the agency announced this week. The new system - which will use green, yellow, or red statuses - will dictate how and when the crew can disembark ships based on the status of coronavirus infections and how long the ship has been isolated.
If a ship is considered "Green," it means there have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 or similar illness for 28 days, and crew will be allowed to fly home via commercial transportation.Posted On:4-Jun-2020
