USA : CDC Extends No Sail Order for Cruise Ships.
The CDC extended a No Sail Order for cruise ships through Sept. 30, 2020. This order continues to suspend passenger operations on cruise ships with the capacity to carry at least 250 passengers in waters subject to U.S. jurisdiction.
"If unrestricted cruise ship passenger operations were permitted to resume, passengers and crew on board would be at increased risk of COVID-19 infection and those that work or travel on cruise ships would place substantial unnecessary risk on health care workers, port personnel and federal partners (i.e., Customs and Border Protection and the U.S. Coast Guard), and the communities they return to," the agency said in a statement.Posted On:24-Jul-2020

Charterers are urged today to play their part in ensuring crew get home. Greece based International seafarers charity "Seamen welfare organization" in collaboration with Sea mission and Merchant Navy Welfare Board (India) has established seafarers welfare centre in Kakinada seaport, India.

As pandemic stretches on, concern for stranded seafarers grows.
The mental well-being and safety of seafarers stuck aboard ships during the pandemic is reaching a breaking point as the months stretch on, warns an inspector in Halifax.
Some 300,000 seafarers are trapped aboard cargo ships and can t disembark or get home due to COVID-19 border and travel restrictions, according to the International Transport Workers Federation.

Philippines : Cokaliong vessel catches fire; captain, crew safe.
ALL of the 47 crew members and the captain of M/V Filipinas Dinagat of Cokaliong Shipping Lines Inc., were rescued after the vessel caught fire late Thursday evening, July 23, 2020, off the waters between Carmen and Sogod, in northern Cebu.
The ship was still on fire when the captain ordered the crew to abandon ship. The cause of the blaze has not been established as of this writing.
According to Commander Alvin Dagalea, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) 7 Deputy Commander and Spokersperson, the vessel left Pier 1 in Cebu City at 7 p.m. bound for Palompon, Leyte.Posted On:24-Jul-2020

International maritime welfare charity Sailors’ Society is providing free mental health and wellbeing support to crew on board more than 1,000 ships through its Wellness at Sea Awareness Campaign.
