Report: Maritime security intelligence agencies have reported that the Water Phoenix reefer vessel was boarded Tuesday morning off Nigeria by an unknown number of persons and that two Russian nationals have been kidnapped.

Singapore establishes Crew Facilitation Centre and safe crew change fund - Seatrade Cruise News

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) enhanced measures to further secure safe port operations and facilitate crew change.

Among these, ships seeking to conduct activities such as repairs, servicing, surveys and inspections which require shore personnel to board the ship must inform the port master at least three days prior to arrival and undertake additional measures including disinfecting working areas in the ship. Canada: Dock workers unions fear for health of members after reports of COVID-19 cases on cargo ships - CBC.ca
Six of 23 crew members on a bulk carrier anchored off Metro Vancouver have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Public Health Agency of Canada.

Union officials have said the Japanese-owned Vega Rose ended up stuck at a container terminal in Delta for several days after the first positive test came back.

All of the affected crew members have been transferred to a federal quarantine site, and Transport Canada says it is monitoring the situation.  CBC.ca

PIL founder YC Chang dies at age 102 - Seatrade Maritime News
Chang Yun Chung (YC Chang), founder of Singapore’s Pacific International Lines (PIL), has passed away at the age of 102 in Singapore on Friday.

The shipping magnate’s passing comes two years after he stepped down from the board of PIL and his son Teo Siong Seng, or SS Teo, took over.

Chang had celebrated his 102nd birthday on 27 August. He is survived by eight sons and six daughters.  Seatrade Maritime News

Panama Canal Launches Tender for New Water Management System
The Panama Canal published a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) on 07 Sep 2020 for the pre-qualification of potential offerors for the engineering, design and construction of a new water management system that will guarantee an adequate water supply for both Canal operations and local consumption for the next 50 years.

The Panama Canal plans to shortlist the most-qualified firms by the end of year. After this time, each pre-selected bidder will be invited to submit his or her best value proposals for a portfolio of water management projects at the waterway... br
