India: Tuticorin port sets container handling record
V O Chidambaranar Port Trust in Tuticorin has set a new record in handling the highest volume from a container ship. The container terminal operator PSA SICAL Container Terminal set the record by handling 4413 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) of containers on Sunday.
The vessel - M V SSL Brahmaputra, with a length overall of 260.05 metre with service rotation on the Tuticorin - Kandla (Gujarat) - Pipavav (Gujarat) - Cochin - Tuticorin was berthed here on January 8. Search Underway for Crew of Abandoned Fishing Vessel Off Midway Island
A search involving U.S. Coast Guard, Navy and good samaritan vessels is continuing for 10 missing crew members of from an abandoned Taiwanese fishing vessel approximately 550 miles off the coast of Midway Island.
The search has been underway since December 31, 2020, after Rescue Coordination Center Taipei lost contact with 95-foot F/V Yong-Yu-Sing No. 18. An Air Station Barbers Point HC-130 aircrew later located the adrift Yong-Yu-Sing No. 18, Jan.Posted On:13-Jan-2021

Philippines: Ferry aground, some passengers and crew still on board.
Deck cargo ship MANOLING 2 with 53 passengers and 25 crew ran aground near Danao City, Cebu, Philippines, in the evening Jan 11, and as of afternoon Jan 12 was still aground. At least 26 passengers and all crew by that time, were still on board, evacuation to be continued depending on weather conditions.
