Greenwich shipping firm announces release of kidnapped crew members
Four crew members who were kidnapped in late November from a product-tanker vessel owned by Greenwich-based Diamond S Shipping off the coast of the west African nation of Togo have been released, the company announced.
"All four crew members are safe and will undergo further medical examinations today," the company said in the announcement. "Diamond S would like to thank all those involved in securing their release. Stena Line suspends ferry service after crew coronavirus outbreak - DutchNews.nl
Shipping company Stena Line has suspended one of its ferries from service between Hoek van Holland and Harwich after 16 members of the 60-strong crew were found to have coronavirus, the AD reported on Friday. The shipping line said earlier this week that one member of the Stena Hollandica crew had symptoms and now mass testing has identified further cases, the AD said. Vaccination - of crew at least - may be part of cruising s restart
With vaccines key to ending the COVID-19 pandemic, it s surprising there hasn t been more open discussion about their potential role in reviving cruising.

EC Funding Project to Investigate Offshore Hydrogen Production
The European Commission has awarded funding to a research project to investigate the feasibility and potential of combining an offshore wind turbine directly with an electrolyzer and transporting renewable hydrogen to shore. Fred Olsen s fast ferry aground, Canary Islands
Ferry BENTAGO EXPRESS, which is serving Santa Cruz de Tenerife with Agaete port, northwest coast of Gran Canaria island, ran aground at night Jan 7 at Agaete entrance on arrival from Santa Cruz de Tenerife with 59 passengers on board. Grounding was said to be caused by strong gust of wind in stormy weather conditions. As of 0600 UTC Jan 8, ferry was still aground, though refloating was expected to take place at around 0230 UTC. Livestock carrier fire, Tuzla, Turkey
Fire erupted on board of, reportedly, livestock carrier BASHAR ONE TRANSPORT, docked at Tuzla Shiprepair Yard, Turkey, at night Jan 7 or during the night Jan 7-8. Understood fire erupted in cargo compartments. Fire was extinguished by firefighters, one crew was injured and had to be hospitalized. Extent of damages unknown.Posted On:9-Jan-2021
