India inches towards first marine designated area off Maharashtra coast.
The state government has sent its final proposal to the Centre to notify 2,011.43 sq km Angria Bank - located 105km (56.7 nautical miles) off the Konkan coast - as a designated area under the Maritime Zones Act, 1976, thereby inching towards India’s first marine protected zone beyond territorial waters.

Fifth of North Sea jobs could go by 2050 without urgent investment in net zero solutions - OGTC report.
However, if the UK moves at pace theres the potential for it to reinforce its "competitive position" in energy skills and capability, boosting total headcount in the industry by almost 100,000 by 2050, according to new analysis.
Research carried out by Aberdeen-based OGTC and the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE Catapult) sets out three possible net zero situations for the North Sea sector.

Worlds 1st zero-emission container vessel, Yara Birkeland, delivered
The long-awaited zero-emission container vessel Yara Birkeland has been delivered to its owner Yara International, Norway-based shipbuilder Vard informed.
Upon delivery, the vessel is scheduled to undergo testing for container loading and stability, before it sets sail to a port and test area in Horten for further preparations for autonomous operation.

Philippines: PPA waiving some port fees as govt aid to shipping firms.
The Department of Transportation through the Philippine Ports Authority said over the weekend it will waive the collection of some port fees for shipping companies and operators and provide returning seafarers with free coronavirus disease 2019 testing.
It said the initiatives would be implemented starting Dec. 1 in line with the provisions of Republic Act No. 11494, or the "Bayanihan to Recover as One Act" (Bayanihan 2).

India: JNPT says it is adhering to all green norms for Vadhavan port development.
The countrys leading container port JNPT on Saturday said it is adhering to the terms of reference issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change for prior environmental clearance for development of Vadhavan port.
The government had in February approved a proposal to set up a new major port at Vadhavan near Dahanu in Maharashtra at an investment of Rs 65,544 crore.

Landing craft sank in Sulu sea, 2 crew missing
Landing craft LADY ATHENA sank on Nov 25 off Cambari Islands in Araceli waters, Palawan, Philippines, Sulu sea, being caught in stormy weather. 15 crew were rescued, 2 are missing. The ship reportedly, developed list, capsized, and sank. Bow ramp probably, started to leak or was seriously damaged, with incoming water flooding cargo deck and compromising shis stability.

VLCC tanker caught in storm, ordered to remain adrift, damaged
VLCC crude oil tanker was cruising in North sea, waiting for orders (understood in ballast), since middle of November. Tanker was caught in passing storm while drifting, bunker tank vents were torn off, fuel spilled out onto cargo deck. There were serious problems in engine room too. Master asked owner to allow tanker to get under way and shelter somewhere, but company said he had to drift and "wait for orders".

Nigeria: Greek crew held hostage after kidnapping off West Africa.
The owner of a fuel tanker is in talks to secure the release of three Greek sailors who were abducted by pirates off the coast of West Africa, the Greek government said Sunday. The crew of the Togo-flagged vessel Stelios K was attacked in the Gulf of Guinea on November 16.
Pirates took the captain and two of the crew hostage. Two other sailors who remained on board were able to steer the ship safely to Nigerian port of Lagos.

14 Indian seamen rescued from Yemen hotel.
A shipping crew assistant from Murshidabad and 13 other Indian sailors, who had been confined to a hotel in Yemens Sanaa since February, were rescued by a team of external affairs ministry officials on Sunday. Officials TOI spoke to said they were working to transport them back to India by next week. On Sunday had reported how the crew - 14 Indians, five Bangladeshis and an Egyptian - had been taken into custody by the Yemeni Coast Guard on February 12 after docking in the war zone due to bad weather.
