Australian seafarers outraged after Federal Government grants foreign workers COVID exemptions to take coastal
The Morrison Government is under fire following revelations that 58 foreign seafarers were granted COVID exemptions allowing them to fly to Australia and work on coastal trading vessels despite local workers being available to do the work.
CSL Australia, the largest operator of dry bulk coastal vessels in Australian waters, was granted permission to fly the seafarers from the Philippines to Australia on a chartered Nauru Airlines flight.

Seafarers Onboard For Up To 20 Months With No Leave Repatriated.
AMSA inspected the ship in Port Alma, Queensland on Monday, 2 November 2020 where inspectors verified that three (3) crew had been on board for over 12 months, four (4) crew had been on board for over 16 months and two (2) crew had been on board for over 20 months. During the inspection the operator Tianjin Shun Xin Yuan Shipping Co LTD assured AMSA, and provided evidence, that crew would be repatriated the following day.Posted On:6-Nov-2020

MSC Cruise Ship Sailings Suspended Due to Significant Travel Restrictions.
With the introduction of severe movement restrictions in France and Germany, MSC Cruises has been forced to cancel its voyages onboard MSC Magnifica.
The cancellations are from November 8 until December 18. After the vessel has concluded her operations pause, she will resume again on a one-off Christmas Cruise and then continue her current 10-night itinerary across the Eastern and Western Mediterranean.Posted On:6-Nov-2020

IMO and WTO Call for Resumption of Cruises to Support Islands and Crew.
The International Maritime Organization and the World Tourism Organization joined together to issue a joint statement in support of the cruise industry. The two United Nations organizations said they were seeking to encourage the cruise industry and governments to continue their efforts to enable cruise ship operations to resume safely.

Singapores Crew Change Success Underlines Maritime Sector Resilience.
The safe corridor instigated by the Singapore crew authorities to faciliate the changing of the ships crew under COVID- 19 has been heralded as a success.
Marking the Singapore register of ships arrival at 96 million gross tonnage the chief executive of the maritime and port authority said since march 27 over 50000 crew changes had happened at Singapore.

Container ship sank off Portugal coast, crew rescued.
The ship is probably, still afloat. There was water ingress, engine room is reportedly, flooded.The ship issued distress signal at around 0030 UTC, reporting flooding, danger of capsizing, sinking.
Container ship SOUTHWESTER reportedly sank some 30 nm off Figueira da Foz, Portugal, at around 0400 UTC Nov 5, while en route from Bretagne France to Seville Spain, all 14 crew were rescued by nearby cargo ship.Posted On:6-Nov-2020

Six workers die in South China Gas Terminal fire
Six people were killed and three seriously injured when a fire broke out at a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in the southern port city of Beihai in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, as said by the operator of the LNG terminal.
