Diana Shipping Agrees to Sell Panamax Bulker
Greek dry bulk owner Diana Shipping has reached an agreement to dispose of one of its Panamax bulkers. Under a Memorandum of Agreement, signed through Diana Shipping s subsidiary, the 2001-built vessel Triton would be sold to an unaffiliated third party.

Bahri CEO: 2020 and 2021 Will Be Golden Years for the Industry
The shipping industry bottomed out in 2018, Abdullah Aldubaikhi, the CEO of Bahri, the world s largest owner and operator of very large crude carriers, is cited by Reuters as saying.
However, Aldubaikhi told Reuters that better days are coming, adding that "the years 2020 and 2021 will be the golden years for this industry."

Matson Decides to Fit Three More Ships with Scrubbers
US-based container carrier Matson unveiled its plans to equip three vessels with scrubbers as it prepares for the IMO 2020 fuel requirement regulation.
Namely, the company earlier committed to a scrubber on one vessel operating in its China-Long Beach Express service, and now confirmed that it is moving forward with plans to install scrubbers on two more CLX ships, according to data revealed during Matson s third quarter conference call.

7 Injured, 137 Evacuated after Norwegian Frigate Collides with Oil Tanker
Seven people sustained minor injuries and 137 people have been evacuated from Norwegian frigate HNoMS Helge Ingstad, which collided with Sola TS oil tanker at the Sture terminal in Oygarden, Norway, on Thursday morning.
The Norwegian coast guard said that the frigate started taking on water as a result of the collision, triggering the evacuation procedure. As informed, all off the injured people have been provided with medical assistance.

Avance Gas Considers Converting Ships to Run on LPG
Norway-based LPG shipping firm Avance Gas could convert its ships to run on liquefied petroleum gas ahead of the IMO emission regulations coming into force by 2020.
Namely, the company explained that it is considering whether it should convert some of its ships to run on LPG fuel, install scrubbers or use compliant low-sulphur fuel.

Containers crashed on bunker tanker from MAERSK container ship
Three containers fell from container ship docked at Panama city on Nov 6, two crash on bunker tanker KOLLUM, moored alongside container ship and in the process of bunkering, and one container fell into water. Container ship wasn t identified, but judging from photos I ve been sent, it s CHARLOTTE MAERSK, which arrived at Panama City on Nov 6 from Lazaro Cardenas Mexico.

Armed Pirates Kidnap Four Crew Members off Congo
Four crew members of an unnamed Singapore-flagged tug/supply vessel were kidnapped on October 29, some 60 nautical miles south of the Republic of Congo, West Africa, Asian piracy watchdog ReCAAP informed.
A group of 10 perpetrators armed with guns boarded the anchored ship, assaulted the crew and damaged the ship s radio equipment, before abducting the vessel s master, chief engineer, chief officer and a member of the deck crew.

Sri Lanka looks to raise port charges
Sri Lanka is looking to raise charges and get more revenue from port services, Ports and Shipping Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe said.
"Without compromising competition we will revise charges," he told reporters in Colombo.
"We haven’t revised in years. Other countries have revised charges and increased their revenue from ports. We will do the same."

The nation s largest container port JNPT in Navi Mumbai is planning to host an edible oil refinery to maximise revenue and ensure captive cargo.
