PM Modi to inaugurate 2nd Maritime India Summit-2021 on March 2
Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the 2nd Maritime India Summit which will be held in a virtual mode on March 2, 2021. The event will be organized by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and waterways jointly with EY as the knowledge partner and FICCI as the Industrial Partner.

As Borders Closed, Thousands of Seafarers Were Left Stranded
In the tiny Pacific island nation of Fiji, nearly a thousand men, mostly from Tonga, have been stranded for months, with no way to get home. In Kiribati, a hundred men are in the same bind. Similar situations are occurring in Egypt and Canada.

The Foreign Ministry should make sincere efforts to enhance international cooperation on maritime piracy and ensure the well-being of Indian seafarers captured by pirates, a parliamentary panel said Thursday.

Royal Caribbean Will Require Crew Members To Get Coronavirus Vaccines
Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Silversea Cruises will require their crew members to receive the COVID-19 vaccine before they can resume working onboard. This was revealed by Crew Center in a letter sent to crew, and also later obtained by Cruise Industry News.

UK Working to Solve Post-Brexit Shipping Problems

Russian sailor died on board of Russian freighter in Antwerp
Russian sailor died in a tragic work accident on board of Russian general cargo ship ATLANTIC PROJECT II, berthed at Antwerp, on Feb 9. In the process of removing cargo hold cover by a crane, sailor was hit by cover, fell into hold and died on the spot. Ro-ro cargo ship on fire, Aegean sea UPDATE
Fire broke out on board of ro-ro cargo ship GALLIPOLI SEAWAYS in the afternoon Feb 11 in Aegean sea, when the ship was some 40 nm south of Dardanelles, en route from Istanbul to Trieste Italy.
