Seafarers UK becomes The Seafarers Charity and launches a new strategy, 'Thrive', to identify and tackle the root causes of hardship and disadvantage to seafarers.

UK: Seafarers exempt from new UK travel declaration rules
The UK government has issued guidelines stating that seafarers, masters, and inspectors and surveyors of ships are exempt from new rules requiring travellers from England to fill in a declaration form for overseas travel, stating their reason for travel.
Brought in on 5 March 2021, the new rules state that, while the stay-at-home restrictions are in place, residents are only allowed to travel abroad for a legally-permitted reason, with travel for work a permitted reason.Posted On:16-Mar-2021

Singapore is the First Country to Ratify the Convention on the International Organization for Marine Aids to Navigation
Singapore ratified the Convention on the International Organization for Marine Aids to Navigation. It is the first country to do so shortly after it signed the Convention on 1 March 2021. Container crisis and Thailand response
Thailand total containers volume in 2020 decreased 5.49% from 2019 volume, 9,574,612 TEU and 10,130,294 TEU respectively. Import fell 4.85%, from 5,161,659 TEU in 2019 to 4,911,102 TEU in 2020. Export decreased from 4,968,636 TEU to 4,663, 510 TEU, - 6.14%.

Cargo ship sank in waters of southern Vietnam
Cargo ship BACH DANG sank off resort town Mui Ne, southern Vietnam, in the evening Mar 14, while en route from Vinh Tan power plant to Vung Tau with cargo of 1,500 tons of ash. The cause of accident unknown, it was said only, that the ship submerged, understood after suffering water ingress. 7 crew were rescued, and are safe.Posted On:16-Mar-2021

Cargo ship ran onto embankment, detained, Brunsbuettel
General cargo ship NEWTON contacted embankment in Brunsbuettel near locks, shortly after passing lock and entering Kiel Canal, in the afternoon Mar 14, because of reportedly, steering failure. The ship managed to go off embankment by own means, she was berthed at Brunsbuettel for survey. As of 1500 UTC Mar 15, NEWTON was still berthed at Brunsbuettel.Posted On:16-Mar-2021

Antwerp is all set to host the biggest ships in the world
