Retired Training Ship Leaves Busan Port to Complete New Mission.
The retired marine training ship Hannara, which has been used by the Korea Maritime and Ocean University, left the South Korean port of Busan to complete its new mission on Tuesday.
The training ship is set to arrive at the port of Haiphong, the largest trading port in Vietnam s northern region, in seven days.
The vessel is under the command of a South Korean captain and 11 crew members who will deliver the ship to the Vietnam Maritime University and transfer their operational know-how.Posted On:16-Sep-2020

India : Gujarat approves letter of intent for world's first CNG terminal at Bhavnagar
The Gujarat government on Tuesday approved a letter of intent (LOI) for the world s first Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) terminal at Bhavnagar port with a proposed investment of Rs 1,900 crore, an official statement said.
The LOI was approved by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and it will be handed over to the consortium of companies to develop the CNG terminal, it added.
The project will be developed jointly by UK-headquartered Foresight Group, Mumbai-based Padmanabh Mafatlal Group and a Netherland-based consortium.Posted On:16-Sep-2020

Japanese training ship collided with fishing vessel.
Japanese training vessel FUKUSHIMA MARU with 73 people on board, including 50 students, collided with fishing vessel while approaching Onahama port, Fukushima, east Honshu, shortly after 0900 Tokyo time Sep 15. Fishing vessel sustained hull crack in fore section, training vessel understood to suffer superficial damages. FUKUSHIMA MARU berthed at Onahama port, fishing vessel resumed her sailing to home port, under own power.

Mayfair Autonomous Ship is in the water.
Ocean research non-profit ProMare and IBM (NYSE:IBM) report that, following two years of design, construction and training of its AI models, the Mayflower Autonomous Ship (MAS) was today lifted into the waters off the coast of Plymouth, England, ahead of its official launch tomorrow.
As we have reported previously, the 15 meter x 6.2 meter Mayflower Autonomous Ship is an AI and solar powered marine research vessel which will traverse oceans gathering vital environmental data. The ILO and other UN agencies and bodies are calling on governments to eliminate without delay all obstacles to crew changes of seafarers, calling it a "humanitarian crisis".
Despite significant efforts by shipowners and seafarers organizations and UN bodies, more than 300,000 seafarers are still trapped aboard vessels, anxious to disembark and return home, and another 300,000 are waiting ashore to replace them, facing financial ruin if they can t go back to work. Piracy on PH waters could affect crew change plans
A recent increase in theft, robbery, and piracy on board ships in the ports of Manila and Batangas could possibly "derail" the country s plan to become a major crew change hub.
