 General cargo ship MEGA ran aground south of Buoy 28 at Azov-Don Sea Canal, straying off fairway, at 0743 Moscow time Dec 27, with 3400 tons of wheat on board. Attempts to refloat ship with the help of icebreaker KAPITAN DEMIDOV failed. As of 1000 Moscow time Dec 28 she was still aground, though marked as At anchor. Reportedly, owner seeking extra facilities to refloat the ship, lightering was mentioned. MEGA was en route from Rostov to Samsung Turkey.

| LPG tanker accident, Netherlands
 LPG tanker PAROS broke off her moorings in the evening Dec 27 at Sloehaven, Vissingen, and drifted to shore with, understood, her stern sticking bottom. According to Tugspotters.com, tanker s Master refused tugs assistance, because it should be salvage under LOF. In about an hour though, tanker was refloated and brought to berth.
